'Vault of Blue'
20 x 30 inches, oils on canvas
Vault of Blue explores proximity and magnitude within a restrained palette. The dominance of cool tonal shifts establishes immersion, while the whale shark’s steady ascent reinforces themes of calm power and natural scale. The result is both expansive and intimate. Light fractures gently above as the whale shark approaches brighter water. The depth behind it recedes into shadow, creating the sense of an enormous vaulted space. The moment feels transitional, poised between concealment and exposure.
