I painted a blue whale experiencing its first rain. The surface becomes a thin, trembling line where light breaks, droplets scatter, and the vastness below quietly shifts. The first drops carry an unfamiliar anticipation for the whale, and it slowly rises, those initial drops touching its face, leaving it momentarily awestruck. Power exists, but rests. It is a moment of listening, when the sea receives the sky and nothing needs to move any faster.
